Gwinne Berexa, President of the Junior League of San Francisco honored Marybeth La Motte with the Sustainer of the Year award for 2009-10 at the Sustainers' Annual Lunch, on February 5, 2010. Annual Lunch Chairs Marsha Monro and Marilyn Timoney invited fellow-League member and author Carolyn Hansen and her co-author Cathleen Peck to share experiences from their books, Power Hiking Paris, Power Hiking London and Power Hiking San Francisco. Cocktails were served at Foster-Gwin Antiques and lunch was held at the Villa Taverna.

Junior League of San Francisco is an organization of women dedicated to improving the community through the action and leadership of trained volunteers, developing the potential of women and promoting volunteerism. Its sustaining members have been active and involved for a minimum of nine years. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
